Review: Square Organics Bars

Review: Square Organics Bars

What have you been up to my love bugs? I know it’s been quite sometime since I last posted a blog, but adulthood has been slapping me in the face a lot lately. But let’s not talk about my problems and let’s rather talk about protein bars, specifically Square Organics protein bars.

Shall we?

Square Organics is the manufacturer of Squarebar – a line of organic, gluten-free protein bars packed with 12 grams of plant-based, soy-free protein, and covered in dark chocolate. About two weeks ago, the lovely Amanda, Square Oraganics’ Social Marketing Manager, sent me the most beautiful care package with all of their bars to try. I’ve finally tried every single one of them and here’s my review.

*If you decide to purchase their bars, head to www.squareorganics.com and use my code candied_chocolate to get 20% off.

1)    Chocolate Coated Cherry:

Although I love fresh cherries (they’re actually my favorite fruit), I HATE everything that’s cherry flavored. I’m not even kidding. So naturally, I wasn’t really looking forward to tasting the Chocolate Coated Cherry Squarebar. In fact, I set myself up for disappointment. Big time. But you know what’s funny? I actually liked the bar. I really did. It’s very chocolatey and you can barely taste the cherry.

8/10

2)    Chocolate Coated Crunch:

Give me anything chocolatey and crunchy and I’ll love you forever. That’s how much I LOVE chocolate. When I opened my care package from Square Organics and saw that there was a Chocolate Coated Crunch bar, I almost lost it. You might think I’m crazy, but I take food super seriously.

But unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. Maybe it’s because my expectations were too high. I expected the bar to be super crunchy, but it wasn’t. It was also a little too sweet for me. Having said that, the bar is still pretty good though!

3)    Almond Spice

I think the Almond Spice might be my favorite one. It’s so extraordinarily gooey compared to the other flavors. I wonder why that is. It also tastes like gingerbread, which reminds me of Christmas. Soooooo scrumptious!

4)    Chocolate Coated Peanut Butter

For those of you who follow me on social media, you know that I’m a peanut butter addict. If you open my kitchen cabinet, you’ll see a number of different brands of peanut butter (e.g. Nuts ‘N More, Wild Friends, Buff Bake, etc.) “But what do you do with so many jars,” you may ask. Well, I eat them. Everyday, I have several tablespoons of peanut butter so they’re gone pretty quickly. All this to say that I pretty much love anything peanut butter, including this Chocolate Coated Peanut Butter Squarebar. What I love the most about this bar is that it has tiny little crushed peanuts.

5)    Chocolate Coated Coconut

Dark chocolate and coconut is my second favorite combo on this planet. Did the Chocolate Coated Coconut bar live up to my expectations? The answer is …. wait for it…. YES! It has the perfect amount of cocoa and coconut, and the perfect amount of sweetness. In other words, eating a Chocolate Coated Coconut Squarebar is equivalent to a vacation in Bahamas. Ok, not really, but almost.

9.5/10

6)    Chocolate Coated Mint

The combination of chocolate and mint is not everyone’s cup of tea. In fact, I feel that most people wrinkle their nose when they hear those two together. I don’t get it. I really don’t. Those people have no idea what’s good. In my humble opinion, there’s nothing better than a mint chocolate on a hot summer day. So delicious and refreshing. Am I not right? Of course I am.

The Chocolate Coated Mint Squarebar is quite finger-licking. It tastes just like a candy bar but with all natural and healthy ingredients.

 9.5/10
