Review: Les Gourmandises de Peyton (Montreal)

Review: Les Gourmandises de Peyton (Montreal)

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I'm a sucker for everything and anything sweet. And the bigger and messier it is, the better. Luckily, my husband shares the same love and passion for food as me. So every weekend - and I mean every weekend - we go on a hunt for the newest and craziest treat in the big city of Montreal. Oh, how I love weekends!

So how do we find these yummy places? We research (or better to say I research). I google. I browse through different blogs. I stalk Instagram accounts. I mean, you name it. But one of my go-to places is the MTL Blog as it's known for promoting new restaurants, bars, and cafés in Montreal.

So let's rewind a bit here...

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon an article posted on the MTL Blog about Les Gourmandises de Peyton - a small café located in the heart of the Plateau that sells donut smoothies. Yes, donut smoothies, you read that right. Once I read the article and saw those scrumptious photos, I was immediately mesmerized. It was at that precise moment that I told myself, 'You need to get your ass there ASAP.'

As you walk into Les Gourmandises de Peyton, you suddenly feel like you're in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Everything from the furniture to the décor reminds you of that Disney movie, and that's what makes it unique and stand out. And the smoothie? Well, it's pretty damn good. At first glance it looks like a high-calorie bomb packed with your entire day's calories. But don't be fooled. The donut smoothie is actually a health bomb made with fresh fruit and chia seeds. Yes, the toppings are definitely higher in calories, but they are the ones that make it sooooo worth it. I mean what's more delicious than a drink topped with a donut, brownie, whipped cream and a wafer straw?

The only down side is the price. The smoothie costs $10, which might be a little overpriced for the general population.

My note: 8/10
