When people hear the word brownie, they smile and automatically think of a small square of rich chocolate cake. But when people hear the word black bean brownie, they can't help but raise their eyebrows. What is it about black beans that is so stomach-turning?
Today, I'm here to convince you (if you're not already convinced) that Black Bean Brownies are the bomb. What's great about them besides the fact that they taste delicious is that they are made without any flour or refined sugar. Isn't that awesome? I think it's super awesome.
So if you are an anti-black-bean-brownie person, I dare you to make my recipe! Are you ready for this challenge? Damn yeah you are!
1 can of drained/rinsed black beans
1/2 cup of cacao powder
1 TSP of baking powder
3 TBS of melted butter
7-8 TBS of pure maple syrup (if you want to save on calories you can use Walden Farms Syrup)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Mix all the ingredients in a blender except for the walnuts
If the batter is too thick, add a splash of almond milk. But don't add to much. The batter should have a pasty consistency
Mix in the crushed walnuts
Grease and flour a small aluminium dish. Pour in the batter and spread evenly
Bake for 30 minutes or until the fork comes out clean
Let it cool for 30 minutes before cutting
