Why You Should Make Mistakes

Growing up, I was told to be careful in life. I was told to make conscious choices and avoid taking high risks. While I understand that my family was trying to protect me from failure, I still believe they should have encouraged me to be more fearless and ballsy.

Make mistakes, take chances, be silly, be imperfect, trust yourself and follow your heart.

For most of my years, I lived and insisted on a cautious life. I went to college. I got myself a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree. I found myself a full-time job with full benefits. I did everything I was supposed to do. I did all these things without complete thought; without asking myself do I really want this. But after years and years of conforming to my family and society, I decided it was time to start living my life differently, to start living my life to the fullest.

Living life to the fullest for me meant not worrying about failing. It meant stepping out of my comfort zone and saying, “YES” to everything. Adopting this mentality has been life changing. Being bold and fearless has allowed me to attend the most exciting events and meet the kindest people out there. It has also allowed me to learn more about the world than I ever thought possible. In other words, it has changed my life for the best.

Now that I’ve found happiness, I want you to do the same. I know life can be difficult, that things are often not black and white. But I also know that life can be beautiful. You just have to kick your fear of making mistakes.

Here are 4 quick tips on how to do it:

2) Realize that it’s okay to make mistakes. In fact, it’s necessary for self-growth and development.

3) Realize that when you make mistakes the world won’t stop spinning.

4) Realize that when you make mistakes, the important people in your life won’t stop loving you.
