How to Stop Your Skin From Aging Prematurely

Why are we so mean to our skin? We constantly poke at it. We put tons of unnecessary products on it. We expose it to harmful rays. We do all these things and somehow still expect it to look young and healthy. While some people might be predisposed to perfect skin, unfortunately most of us aren't that blessed. Hence, why it's important to take care of it as best as we can and get rid of all the unhealthy habits that might be causing its premature aging. 

Here are the best 8 tips on how to stop your skin from aging prematurely:

1. Always use SPF

If you don't know what SPF is -- which I highly doubt -- it's the sun protection factor. It's a number that will tell you how well your skin is protected from the sun's harmful rays. The higher the number of the SPF in your sunscreen (or your moisturizing cream), the better it can protect from skin cancers, premature aging and pigmentation. The moral of the story? Exposing your skin to the sun will cause it to age faster. So limit your time in the sunshine and always use SPF. 

2. Never pick at your skin

I know this is very hard, but you got to stop picking and squeezing your pimples. Why? Because by doing so you're not only irritating your skin, but you're also causing its premature aging and wrinkling. 

3. Get regular facials

This goes hand in hand with number 2. Instead of doing your own facial extraction, why don't you let an esthetician do the job? Unlike you, the esthetician knows exactly what to do and what not to do. She definitely won't cause irritation. 

4. Use eye cream

A lot of women wonder if eye cream is really necessary. Well, let me tell you something: YES IT IS. Because the skin around your eyelid is the thinnest skin in your body, that's where wrinkles tend to form first. By applying eye cream, you're providing your skin with hydration and therefore helping smoothing out fine lines. 

5. Consume collagen

6. Avoid foundation

For many women, it's extremely hard to leave the house without foundation. For some reason, they worry people will stare at them and think they're unattractive. I know that because I used to be one of them. But did you know that applying foundation and doing all the contouring, concealing and highlighting is quite damaging for your skin? It clogs pores, makes your blackheads and whiteheads ten times worse, and causes premature aging. 

7. Drink plenty water

Water is key for fighting premature aging (and many many other things). Try to drink at least 2 litres a day. End of discussion.

8. Eat healthy
