How We Found Out the Sex of the Baby
If you follow me on Instagram then this is probably old news to you. However, I still think you should read this blog post as I also want to take a moment to talk about gender reveal parties. So stick around. But before I jump right into it, I want to make sure you know that this isn't your traditional gender reveal post. You won't be seeing beautiful photos with pink and blue balloons or cupcakes. And you definitely won't be seeing photos of myself flaunting my baby bump in a tight-fitting maxi dress.
My husband and I decided to do a very intimate gender reveal party, so basically a party between just the two of us. And as the biggest donut lovers, we thought a donut gender reveal party would be an awesome idea. So how did we do this? A couple of days before my ultrasound, I reached out to the best donut place in Montreal - Leché Desserts. I asked them to make four donuts - two with pink filling and two with blue filling. Then I explained to them that after my ultrasound, I would come in, give them a piece of paper with the gender written on it, and then they would give me the two donuts with the right filling. So why two donuts? Well, one for me and one for my husband.

So as you saw, this wasn't a glamorous insta-worthy gender reveal party. But that's okay. I didn't feel the need to have one and be like everybody else. I wanted something small, something intimate, something between my husband and I. I think a lot of people (meaning not all people) tend to throw these big gender reveal parties for attention. They want and need those perfect photos to show the world how perfect and beautiful their life is. But I think that sometimes we should keep things a little more low key. We should slow down and soak up those key moments with the person who's the most important in this equation and that's the partner.
What do you think? Did you have a big gender reveal party?
